EVO Visian ICL

What is ICL?

The Family of Visian ICLs, also called an Implantable Collamer® Lens, is a refractive implant to correct common vision issues like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. Unlike some other vision correction options, the Visian ICL is an additive technology that corrects vision without the removal of any corneal tissue. The Visian ICL is meant to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contacts and unlike most permanent refractive solutions, it is removable.

ICL stands for Implantable Collamer® Lens. It’s a soft, flexible lens that is gently placed inside your eye to help you see clearly — just like a contact lens, but it stays in your eye permanently (and can be removed if needed).

ICL is used to correct common vision problems like:

  • Nearsightedness (myopia)
  • Farsightedness (hyperopia)
  • Astigmatism

Unlike LASIK, ICL does not remove or reshape any part of your eye. That means it’s a great option for people who may not be eligible for laser eye surgery due to thin corneas or dry eyes.

The goal of ICL is simple: clear vision without glasses or contact lenses.

EVO Visian ICL Procedure - What to Expect

EVO Visian ICL is made of biocompatible Collamer material that works in harmony with your eye. Your eye doctor will create a small opening in your cornea that will be used to insert and position the EVO Visian ICL. The procedure is typically painless with numbing eye drops and it typically takes less than 20 - 30 minutes. You can experience improved vision right away and a quick recovery time. If you are farsighted, a few weeks before the Visian ICL implant surgery, your eye doctor will create small openings in the colored part of your eye to allow for flow of the fluid in your eye.
